The registrar moves the name.
Sleekdomains can confirm a request and point you to the next email. It cannot push a domain from one registrar account to another.
Who does what
- Buyer. The person who asks to buy a listed name, make an offer, or start a rent-to-own plan.
- Seller. The person who controls a name and asks to list it, or the party that controls one of the catalog names.
- Marketplace. Sleekdomains. We show the names and take requests. We do not charge a card, hold the purchase money, or register the name.
- Registrar. The company where the name is registered. The registrar is the one that can move a name between accounts. Sleekdomains is not the registrar.
- Escrow provider. A separate company that can hold funds during a sale. Escrow.com is the provider we researched. It is not connected. When checkout uses escrow, the buyer pays the escrow fee on top of the listed price. This site does not hold funds, insure a transfer, or guarantee one.
What is true today
- A buyer request does not transfer the name.
- The marketplace emails the buyer to confirm the price and how payment will be arranged. No card is charged on this site.
- For a new seller listing, a DNS TXT lookup can show that a verification record is present. That lookup is not a transfer and it does not publish the name.
- If a catalog name points its DNS at this site, visitors to that domain see its for-sale page. That is a landing page, not a change of owner.
What is not defined
Pending legal review. Auth codes, the account the name moves into, who starts the transfer, and how long a transfer may take are not written. The payout target is within 5 business days after the buyer's payment clears and the registrar transfer is confirmed. This is a target, not a guarantee. The payout method is not defined. This page does not fill the registrar gaps.
Registrars can also refuse a transfer for their own reasons, including a lock after a recent registration or a previous transfer. That is the registrar's rule, not a Sleekdomains deadline.
The escrow provider is not connected, so funds are not held by Escrow.com or by the marketplace while a transfer is underway. There is no transfer guarantee. When checkout uses escrow, the buyer pays the escrow fee on top of the listed price.
If a transfer stalls, use the contact form and choose “A transfer”. A reply is support, not a completed transfer. The draft purchase and refund page says the same limit. A separate checklist covers what to confirm before money moves.
